Overview

The Keating Center offers a variety of services: A three-month in-house rehab program in which residents attend group meetings facilitated by experienced recovering alcoholics. Residents must get an sponsor and attend 12-step meetings every night. Once residents complete the in-house program, they advance to our three-quarter house program. They work so they can financially help themselves, but still be part of the center’s supervised program. They attend seven mandatory 12-step meetings each week, as a reminder “that staying sober must come first.” Also three-quarter house residents attend mandatory after-care meetings once a week.

The Keating Center offers a work release program. Clients live in a structured, sober environment, go to work, and attend 12-step meetings in the evening. Proceeds from the work release program help to subsidise the operation of our other sober living facilities.

Treatment Center Philosophy

The Ed Keating Center is a three-month residential treatment program for chemically dependent individuals seeking substance abuse recovery services. With an emphasis on the 12 Steps of Recovery, all residents must attend daily 12-Step meetings and intensively engage the 12-Step Program. Residents attend mandatory aftercare services as well.

Areas of Specialization

12-Step
The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.
Residential Treatment
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
