User Reviews: My sister went to Ochsner Addictive Behavior Unit last year and it saved her life. Honestly, it did much more than that though. I stopped talking to my sister years ago because I had given up that she’d ever get sober and then remain that way for any length of time. She’s struggled with addiction for 13 years and has been to rehab so many times I’ve lost count of how many. She usually finished those programs but she never stayed clean for more than 2 months. Usually though, she’d relapse within a week or two. It was depressing for everyone involved and after a while I made myself not care if she in rehab or getting high. I would have loved for her to go to a rehab and then stay sober afterward but I just didn’t see it happening. Until she went to Ochsner Addictive Behavior Unit. So many things changed for her there. Mainly she got sober and finally had the desire and the tools to stay that way. It’s been 8 months she since graduated from Ochsner Addictive Behavior Unit. She hasn’t relapsed. She’s still working hard and doing the things she needs to in order to stay sober. My sister has been to so many rehabs that I can say with complete honesty that it wasn’t just that my sister went to rehab or that she decided that she wanted to be sober. It was going to Ochsner Addictive Behavior Unit specifically that made the difference and I’m still amazed how much better she’s doing.

Slidell Youth Service/Bureau of is a very well run Facility. Got a lot of good info that will able to use to keep me sober. I will recommend Slidell Youth Service/Bureau of to anyone in need. I would a 10 out of 10 for a score.

My experience here in Substance Use Disorder Services has truly enriched my life in so many ways. I was guided by Tali who truly cared. Thank you. I got the tools I needed. I took my experience very seriously, and my time here was when I started my new sober life.

I will start by saying that Thibodaux Addictive Disorders Clinic is one of the most beautiful places where I have lived. My stay at the facility is one of the best experiences of my life that I will always cherish. All of the staff and clients came along like a family. The facility is very neat and clean. Food is great. There are spas and space for indoor and outdoor activities. Although it was a rehabilitation program, I got to learn a lot of skills that I didn’t have before my stay at the facility. Will highly recommend!

I personally attended Saint Charles Community Health Center Addiction Services a while back and at first I could have cared less whether it worked or not. I was injured at work a while ago and in the process of that I hurt my back, ended up having to get surgery, and was put on some medication. After being on that medication for a while I began to kind of become immune to its effects and was feeling no different so that is when I began drinking and using other drugs to compensate for the pain I was feeling. That in turn then led me to go downhill at work and not really care about my appearance I was just doing whatever I could to feel sorry for myself because of the injury that had taken place and was giving myself the ole pitty party of why did this have to happen to me. After a few months of spiraling out of control some of my co-workers sat me down and told me I was going to lose my job that I had been at successfully for almost 9 years if I did not go and get the help that they were offering me. It was hard to say yes but it was almost harder to look at all these people who cared more about me than I did at that moment and tell them no! So I was on my way to rehab, not very happy about it but I was going. I had something to prove to them but more so to myself knowing that this is not who I was or who I was supposed to be. I gave it everything I had. I detoxed had good days and bad days. I had days where I called my buddies saying how awful it was here and no one knew what they were doing and I was not learning a damn thing. It was all lies to try and get one of them to come get me out of this place. When I could not get one to come I would call the other when they did not come I would call the next but when no one came I realized that this was something I had to face and they were letting me know I had to finish this. About twenty days after that I graduated I remember calling all of them and thanking them for not coming to get me. I had finally got to all of my underlying issues and began to stop feeling sorry for myself and at that point I knew that I would not go back and fall into this trap of addiction again. I cannot thank the people at this center again. I said such hurtful things to them while I was here and about this place but it really was just because I did not want to be here I would say or do anything to get out if it. In the end I am so proud of myself for all that I have accomplished and I looked forward to going home and showing everyone including myself that I did it and I am back. The real me the one who cares about their job performance, the one who takes pride in their appearance and the one who loves life and today I am proud to say that this program helped me get all of that back.

Louisiana Substance Abuse Facts

Substance abuse is prevalent in all parts of the United States, Louisiana included. Below are some statistics from 2015 concerning substance abuse among Louisiana residents aged 12 or older:

  • About 427,000 people 12 and older reported having abused marijuana.
  • Approximately 66,000 individuals reported cocaine use.
  • An estimated 6,000 people abused heroin that year.
  • More than 250,000 individuals had an alcohol use disorder.

Just over 12,000 people were in some type of substance abuse treatment program in a single day count in 2015, an increase from previous years. Considering the staggeringly large number of people who abuse drugs and alcohol, this one-day snapshot of those seeking treatment only represents a small portion of those who need addiction treatment help. Those who fail to seek help for substance abuse risk significant impairment in many areas of their lives including the development of significant mental and physical health problems.

Getting Addiction Treatment Help

If you are one of the thousands of people who struggle with addiction on a daily basis, it’s not too late to take this first step toward recovery. There are many different types of treatment programs in Louisiana, including inpatient, luxury, holistic, executive, faith-based, and outpatient. The kind of recovery program you enter all depends on your own personal preferences. You can research programs here, or if you’d like to speak to a treatment support representative directly, call us to learn more about your addiction treatment options.

If you have insurance, chances are you probably will receive at least partial coverage for your substance abuse treatment services. Calling your insurance company will ensure that you learn all of the details of your specific plan.

Where Else Can I Find Help?

If you have an addiction to drugs or alcohol and you don’t have insurance, there may be alternative means of funding addiction treatment services. There are several ways in which you can finance your substance abuse treatment, such as:

  • State programs: These programs are funded by the government to provide a lower cost substance abuse treatment option for people in need.
  • Sliding scale: Some recovery programs are able to adjust the cost of treatment based on an individual’s income.
  • Payment plan: Likewise, a treatment program may allow an individual to pay off treatment over time if paying upfront would a cause significant financial burden.
  • Grants: You may apply for various drug or alcohol abuse grants offered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Other options for paying for rehab include taking out a personal loan or even asking for financial help from people who love you.
