Overview

New Found Life is a gender specific, residential addiction treatment center for men and women recovering from the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction. We offer Primary Care, Extended Care, and Residential Continuing Care.  For 20 years New Found Life has provided cost-effective, individual care for patients, and support for families and children. At New Found Life, alcoholism and addiction are recognized as diseases and not as moral failures.  Although chemical dependence is the primary diagnosis for all our residents, we offer a comprehensive, no-nonsense program of recovery that includes psychiatric care, individual and group counseling, life skills training, yoga classes, music therapy, spiritual composure, planned recreation, in house 12 step meetings and a growth schedule based on all aspects of recovery.  Our program addresses the psychological, physical, social and spiritual needs of the individual.

Treatment Center Philosophy

At New Found Life in Long Beach, California, addiction and chemical dependency are treated with methodology rooted in 12-step programs. New Found life treats chemical dependency as a disease, and focuses on dual-diagnosis treatments. New Found Life offers programs that move patients through each step of the recovery phase, beginning with intervention. New Found Life’s positive and encouraging environment is the perfect setting for recovering addicts to come to grips what addiction and chemical dependency. Through one-on-one sessions, group therapy, family participation and continuing care, New Found Life helps patients build the life skills necessary to achieve – and sustain – sobriety.

Areas of Specialization

12-Step
The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.
Residential Treatment
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
