The overall goal of treatment at Step Ahead is lasting recovery. Each person develops a plan that will produce lasting recovery with the minimal risk of relapse. This plan will include acquiring accurate and up-to-date information about their condition, specific and measurable action steps to effect change in risky behaviors, attitudes and emotions, and the creation of a solid support system to meet their recovery needs.

Provides counseling to substance abusing adults, adolescents and their families. Services include assessments, individual, group, family, and couples counseling, interventions, aftercare counseling, and a full tobacco dependence program. Step Ahead consults for corporations, educational and healthcare facilities to develop effective tobacco use policies and programming. IDRC-approved 16-week counseling. There are a wide variety of educational programs for civic organizations, schools, religious groups and treatment facilities.
