Also, understand that to remain in the program, clients must abide by the rules and regulations of the program.
Client Orientation and Admission Policy
Upon an admission to our program, there are certain requirements that must be met.
Within 24 hours of admission for assessment the client will:
    Read and sign the orientation/admission policy, general treatment agreement,and financial agreement;
    Receive a copy of the client's bill of rights;
    Provide all requested information during initial interview with staff;
    Take a complete shower with anti-lice shampoo provided by the program for preventative measures;
    Be assigned a job function;
    Be assigned a room;
    Be assigned an individual counselor.

Hospitality House financial specialists make the process of paying for your stay painless. A financial assessment is conducted and a determination is made if you are eligible for Public Assistance, a sliding scale fee or in the rare instance, a hardship case . Hospitality House will never deny admission for the inability to pay. If the indivdiual is eligible for Public Assistance, our staff works closely with you and assists in completing forms, establishing appointments and helps with recertification.
What is involved?
In general, clients will be eligible for public assistance if:
    They are over 21 years of age and,
    They have less than $2,000 in assets (including automobile.)
Clients who are under the age of 21:
For those clients 18-21 years of age, the Department of Social Services may require parental financial information to determine eligibility. If it is determined that parental income disqualifies the client from receiving public assistance, Hospitality House will establish a payment schedule based upon a sliding scale.
The following paperwork is requested (but not required) for all admissions:
    Photo id: drivers license or non-driver ID.
    Social Security card.
    Birth certificate
If you do not have ID upon admission, we will assist you in obtaining it.

Our 4 phase system is designed for clients to move through distinct "phases" or levels of treatment, and with each advancement be given more responsibilities and privileges. A client must earn each phase advancement, and must submit a written request for each promotion to their individual counselor for staff review. Once promoted to a phase, you must still submit permission for privileges allowed within that phase. The first 30 days of treatment is considered the "Prospect" period. A potential member is not assigned a job function and must earn community membership by following all prospect responsibilities.
In addition to the Phase structure outlined below, clients who exhibit extreme negative behaviors or program rule violation are placed on Phase Zero. During this time all privileges are suspended, you are to remain in silence at all times and must have a shadow aware of you. During certain periods of the day, you may be assigned tasks through House Management and are required to do household chores. You are also required to follow all clinical directions.

Hospitality House staff is fully capable of providing medical treatment for the majority of physical illnesses. Because we feel that physical health is a vital first step toward emotional recovery, we work earnestly with clients in addressing all of their medical concerns immediately upon admission.
Clients are seen by various physicians in the Capital District, and there are also two major hospitals within walking distance, as well as numerous clinics and outpatient laboratories.
Some of the illnesses we are capable of monitoring and addressing are listed below:
    Diabetes
    Asthma
    Mild mental health issues (depression, anxiety)
    HIV
